The Pollution Action Pipeline program is designed to help people identify polluting facilities in their communities, and to “adopt” wastewater permits for these facilities from the NC Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR). We can teach you how to search for permits on the Internet, obtain a copy of a permit of interest to you, look through DENR records for violations, and learn the pollution history of your sites. Our convenient bi-weekly e-mail digest summarizes all the permits that are up for review and public comment throughout the state, noting the facilities that CWFNC has identified as “chronic polluters.”
We can also help you learn to read permits for useful information and give you tips on preparing comments, which you can submit to DENR to make your voice heard in their decision-making process!
