Conservation Council of North Carolina (CCNC) is bipartisan organization dedicated to protecting NC's natural resources by lobbying state government, educating and mobilizing the public, and providing legislative information to concerned citizens throughout the state.

National Networks:
Clean Water Network works to keep the promise of the Clean Water Act.

Environmental Justice:
Environmental justice groups work to protect low income communities and communities of color from disproportionate levels of pollution, toxins, and environmental health threats.
The Center for Health, Environment, and Justice is a national group working on environmental justice issues.

Right To Know:
Several federal and state laws require polluters to allow public access to records of their pollution.

Government Agencies:
In North Carolina, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources handles most issues related to water quality, air quality, land use regulations, dump sites, and hazardous chemicals. This is the Department's home page.

DENR has a "customer service" page, the Environmental Permit Information Center. This site provides information on every environmental permit issued and administered by DENR. It is extremely useful and helpful. www.envhelp.org/main/factshts.htm
The federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is a place to turn for information, or when state regulators are not helpful. www.epa.gov
